George Perdue - President

George Perdue is the current President of the Schoolcraft Improvement Association (SIA). He has been married for 30 years to his wife Carol and they have two children. He and his family have resided in the Schoolcraft community for over 26 years. George is retired and his career included working for the City of Detroit for 25 years as well as in the private sector. During his time with the City, he completed a formal machinist apprenticeship and also attended Lawrence Tech University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. Following his employment with the City of Detroit, George worked as a manufacturing instructor for Focus:HOPE where he mentored and taught students in machining processes. George ended his full-time working career as an assembly plant tooling supervisor at the Chrysler Corporation. While working at Chrysler, he also attended Schoolcraft College where he received a culinary certificate in baking and pastry arts. 

Since his retirement, George is enjoying doing volunteer work. He volunteered with SOAR, which is a reading program for at risk children, the FIRST robotics STEM program at the Michigan Engineering Zone (MEZ) and is currently a volunteer GED tutor at the St. Vincent Sarah Fisher Center. George has a passion for baking and put his culinary certificate to use working as a part time baker at the Give Thanks Bakery in downtown Rochester, the Morning Glory Café in Grosse Pointe Farms, as a baked goods vendor at the Northwest Detroit Farmers Market and at church events.

George enjoys opportunities to interact with residents in resolving community issues and making improvements. Besides spending time performing his duties as the SIA President, George enjoys dining out at new restaurants with his wife Carol, watching NBA basketball, and working on sudoku puzzles. George holds near and dear his faith in God and is a member of the Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church.
